Shotcrete Scanning
Rapid point cloud processing for in-situ shotcrete thickness control.
Shotcrete analysis.
Powered by industry-leading algorithms.
Our scan services provide nozzlemen with a detailed thickness map while shotcrete application is in progress. We have helped shotcrete crews identify both over-application and under-application patters in several Australian tunnel projects. Our data provided the foundation for refining their approach and minimising rework requirements.
Our technology is designed to operate underground in offline environments. Once online, the captured data automatically uploads to 21MT Shotcrete Intelligence for advance analysis and reporting.

Thickness Data when it matters.
Our technology can integrate directly into your excavation cycle to deliver thickness measurements as shotcrete is applied. The system captures data during the spraying process, transforming application from a blind operation into a data-driven procedure. Nozzlemen and engineers receive in-situ visual feedback with each scan rather than waiting for reports delivered days after the shotcrete has been applied. This immediate feedback loop enables in-situ corrections and significantly improves application quality.
Visual feedback for nozzlemen.
Our scan services provide nozzlemen with a detailed thickness map while shotcrete application is in progress. Under-applied areas are identified immediately and can be addressed in the same pass, eliminating the costly cycle of discovering design deviations during later inspections. Crews consistently report that the visual feedback fundamentally changes their approach to application.
Shotcrete Intelligence Integration.
Our software operates offline during in-situ application, ensuring functionality regardless of underground connectivity constraints. The system stores scan data locally and processes it without network access. Once your crew returns to surface or enters a connected area, the data automatically uploads to 21MT Shotcrete Intelligence for advanced analysis, reporting, and QA/QC tracking across your operation.

Improved Safety and Quality.
Shotcrete must achieve specified thickness for the ground support to perform as designed. Under-application compromises structural integrity, while over-application wastes material and increases costs.
Underground, however, nozzlemen contend with dust, rebound, inadequate lighting, irregular rock surfaces, and limited visibility. These conditions make assessing actual thickness from surface appearance alone essentially impossible. Visual inspection cannot reliably distinguish between for example 80mm and 100mm of applied material when the substrate is rough and poorly lit. Our technology can resolve this fundamental limitation.
Optimised shotcrete application.
Shotcrete represents a significant material cost, and most operations order volumes exceeding design requirements — accounting for application variability, rebound losses, and the fundamental uncertainty that comes from not knowing what's actually reaching the substrate.
With consistent thickness data, you gain visibility into actual application versus specification. Some operations discover systematic over-application and can reduce volumes accordingly. Others identify areas of chronic under-application requiring adjustment. In either case, decisions proceed from measurement rather than assumption.
When thickness data is available during application, deficient areas can be remediated in the same pass and before the crew advances and before rectification becomes a separate mobilisation.
We've helped shotcrete crews identify both over-application and under-application patterns in several Australian tunnel projects. Our data provided the foundation for refining their approach and minimising rework requirements.
